Chat Room For Hexenworld Is Born
Posted
by Demolisher
on Friday, June 30, 2000
R!ko and JayCee bring us this news on the forums:
HeXenWorld now has its very own permanent
24/7 chat room, a place for all hexen'ers to meet to discuss
plans for matches and other HeXen II related subjects
(CTF fests/Siege Fests). Anyone in the chat room can talk
freely to each other, which will definately bring the community
closer together. Chatters will be able to send & recieve files
and other such functions. It will enable gamers to converse
before games to discuss tactics against the other guild. Newbies
can learn new skills & get the maps & hook files from the
experineced players. To download this Hexen Saving devise
go to www.mirc.co.uk.
Once downloaded click on the 2nd button in from the left hand
side (hammer/folder)and add the following details:
Description : Barrysworld
IRC server :irc.dk.quakenet.eu.org
Port : 6667
Then press ADD and then connect to the server. Then click
on the 2nd button in form the left (folder with #+), type
in #hexenworld in the "enter name of channel to join" box
and click on ADD. Highlight #hexenworld in the large list
and press join. ^Stinky^ is the bot and keeps the "joker"
free so he will not respond to u if u speak to him. =) Always
make sure u fire up mIRC when you put on icq, it will only
be a sucess if YOU take the
effort to stay in the room when online. Also mIRC can be minimised
when playing a game online as it creates none or about 5 extra
ping(ICQ increases ping by much more even when on DND). mIRC
is also much easier to use. If u have difficulties which these
simple precedures email me riko@geek.com
or ICQ : 36818100

I found this funny article
on PlanetUnreal and
it discusses how to make a successful FPS game. Basically it
points out every feature seen in all the first & third person
games that have come out in the last 8 years. It's a good laugh
:-) Check out SomethingAwful's
Official Guide to Making a Successful FPS.
The
Roots Of Human Head

EuroGamer
had a chance to speak with Shane Gurno, artist and co-founder
of Human Head, about the past, present, and future of Human
Head - developers of Rune. They even mention a bit of HeXen
II in the article:
Human Head might be a new company, but they are
certainly no strangers to action games with melee combat and
a fantasy setting - the company was founded by a group of
former employees from Raven, the company behind the Heretic
and Hexen series.
At the time they were working on HeXen II, a fantasy
action game which was based on id Software's Quake engine,
and was unfortunate enough to be released just weeks before
id themselves finished Quake II. With the game complete, it
was time for Shane and the others to decide whether to jump
now...
