Building
Custom Textures

Over at Rust's Games Design
there are tutorials on how to improve your texture creation
skills by Monsto
Brukes . This is what the site had to say:
Your own textures can help you create exactly the
mood you're after in a map. You might want to just tweak up
a single light or floor texture or you might want to go all
out with a complete set of new textures.
Hopefully, after reading the entire tutorial, you'll have
a bit better understanding about making custom textures. I
don't propose that you'll know all the ins and outs of texturing,
but this should get most of you well on your way.

OS/2
Port For Hexen

Jostein Ullestad
over at Power Utilities has made a DOS to OS/2 port for Hexen.
Here's some information that i found on the site:
In order to play this game you need to have DIVE
on your system. If you are running OS/2 Warp 4 then you all
ready have DIVE installed and are ready to play.
Im sure JHexen
could use this port if support was made for it. Lets hope this
starts the ball rolling for an OS/2 port for HeXen II.
Make sure you check out the rest at Power
Utilities Hexen Section.

Microsoft has released
the latest version of their multimedia suite of API's for windows,
DirectX 8.0:
This latest version of DirectX offers updated graphics,
faster frame rates, and support for massively multiplayer
games. It also offers more immersive audio when running and
displaying programs rich in multimedia elements such as full-colour
graphics, video, 3-D animation, and surround sound.
Sounds good to me! You can download it from Microsoft's DirectX
8.0 site.

Rick Johnson updated
his plan with
this exciting news that we've been waiting for for a long time:
The download contains both the HeXen
II: Portal Of Praevus Mission Pack source code
plus the HeXenWorld
multiplayer source code. All of the code was last compiled
under Visual C V5.x, so it might take a little work to get
them to compile under VC++ 6.x.
You can download the HeXenWorld source code right here
in our official HexenWorld
files section.
